INTERVIEW WITH

ADAM KRUSE

Seth: Today I have the good fortune of interviewing Adam Kruse. Adam, welcome to the show. Thanks so much for being here.

Adam: Thank you. Thank you for having me. I’m excited to talk with you today.

Seth: Can you tell us a little bit about who you are and what you’re doing.

Adam: My name is Adam Kruse. I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I own a few businesses, primarily a real estate brokerage called Hermann London and a property management company and I just tried to see what kind of interesting things I can do with my time to keep me interested.

Seth: And how did you get started in podcasting?

Adam: Well, I started my podcast I guess about four or five months ago. I wanted a way for me to share a lot of the information that I have with people quickly. I wanted some way to kind of a reason to talk to some of these interesting people I see around town and kind of interview. Interviewing people or just asking questions is how I’ve learned so much in my career to kind of give me information that I’ve needed to get going, and it was kind of right place at the right time thing. I found a guy who works at a radio station and he was willing to be my producer part-time. So I’m actually going to be recording my next podcast here in about half an hour.

Seth: How have you grown your listener base?

Adam: Well, what we’ve done is we’ve – I think it’s kind of one of – our efforts has been sort of a throw it against the wall and see what sticks type of thing, right. Right?

So we put our podcast on YouTube. My producer, Joey, could list out all the different places. I guess there’s like a lot of different websites that he posts the podcast on and then a few that I interview actually share it with their social media connections and their sphere of influences. And so, we get extra exposure through them as well.

Seth: Absolutely. That makes total sense, all great strategies for folks to use. What do you wish you knew when you started, that you know now?

Adam: That’s a good question. I suppose I wish I knew maybe how easy it would be. It’s just as easy as I wanted it to be. I wonder if when I started, if we should have done the video because it wouldn’t be that much harder to make our podcast have a video. I wished for one there on YouTube and one in our blog and that type of thing and I think that would help kind of get me sort of the brand recognition I’m looking for. I’m a realtor primarily and so for us our faces, our logo and our name is our brand. Maybe I wish I would have known how easy it would have been to add video, too.

Seth: I know a lot of our listeners learn more from our failure.
